Emcon Services Inc. is a proud Canadian based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial Road and Bridge Maintenance Contractor. We currently have opportunities for enthusiastic individuals to join our team in the Sudbury Contract area at our Manitoulin Island, Little Current patrol yard.

Reporting to the Road Superintendent, the Highway Maintenance Worker/Operator is responsible for:
- Preparing and operating light and heavy maintenance equipment such as patrol trucks, loaders, plows, spreaders, combinations, tractors, etc;
- Carrying out assigned routine and non-routine summer and winter highway maintenance activities, including plowing, sanding, traffic control, emergency response, highway surface, shoulder, drainage and right-of-way maintenance;
- Completing all required operational paperwork, including Driver Inspection documents, Hours of Service Log Sheets, Vehicle Circle Safety Checks, Winter Operations Records, Equipment Cost Reports, timesheets and other reports as required;
- Performing routine and minor preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including cleaning, greasing, refueling, assisting with plow blade changes and minor repairs;
- Performing facility and yard maintenance as required;
- Reporting highway conditions, accidents, incidents, injuries, equipment damage, required repairs and MTO property damage to the appropriate personnel;
- Conducting highway patrols as required. Shift work, overtime, winter night shifts and emergency response may be required;
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Minimum DZ license in good standing, willing to learn how to operate heavy equipment;
- Preferred AZ license with proven experience in operating heavy equipment;
- Experience in Provincial and or Municipal highway maintenance field;
- Helpful, friendly and courteous with the public, regulatory agencies and peers;
- Punctual, reliable and willing to work shift work;
- Physically able to meet all requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments, working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner that also promotes cost effective operations, and staff co-operation.
The role is a unionized role.
Pay Rate: $26.30/hr (DZ) / $27.74/hr (AZ)
