We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our mechanical team as a 310T Certified Lead Hand Technician for our New Location - Dorchester Shop.

Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Lead Hand Technician is responsible for:
- Maintenance and upkeep of all vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment;
- Servicing and repairing highway maintenance fleet in compliance with provincial requirements;
- Assisting with shop scheduling and assigning work;
- Supporting inventory and ensuring parts and equipment are available;
- Assisting with obtaining quotes, processing repairs, and tracking purchase orders and invoices;
- Supporting troubleshooting and ensuring work is completed within required timelines;
- Tracking repair time and completing work orders accurately;
- Maintaining communication with team members and management;
- Other duties as assigned
This position is for afternoon shift, shifts and times may change according to operational needs.
Qualifications include:
- Preference will be given to licensed Truck & Coach Mechanic (310T);
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License;
- Preferably Grade 12 education (diploma);
- Knowledge and experience in Preventative Maintenance Programs;
- Knowledge and experience in engine/emission diagnostics, electrical diagnostics and repair;
- Knowledge and experience in heavy truck hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, suspension, and steering;
- Knowledge and experience in fabrication and welding considered an asset;
- Good knowledge of trade related worksite safety;
- Experience on industry related heavy-duty equipment such as gravel trucks, snow-plow trucks, winter maintenance attachments, loaders, graders, sweepers, mowers, backhoes, tractors, etc.;
- Capable of working overtime as required;
- Capable of performing call out to attend vehicle breakdown.
This role is a unionized position with wages and benefits as outlined by the collective agreement.
Pay Rate: Based on experience up to a maximum of $43 hourly. Additional $1.50 per hour as a lead hand.
