Emcon Services Inc. is a proud Canadian-based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial road and bridge maintenance contractor. We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Long Haul Operator, based out of our Hamilton yard.

Reporting to the Road Superintendent, the Long Haul Operator is responsible for:
- Operating tractor-trailer units over long distances, including extended trips that may involve interprovincial travel;
- Safely transporting materials, equipment and supplies in support of our highway maintenance operations;
- Driving for extended periods, including in heavy traffic and varying weather and seasonal conditions;
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the unit is safe and ready for operation;
- Securing loads and assisting with load securement in accordance with applicable regulations;
- Ensuring trucks and trailers are properly maintained and reporting defects, damage, required repairs or operational concerns to the appropriate personnel;
- Completing all required documentation, including Hours of Service logs, Vehicle Circle Safety Checks, Driver Inspection documents, bills of lading, timesheets and other operational paperwork;
- Reporting accidents, incidents and injuries to the Supervisor and completing all required documentation;
- Representing Emcon professionally while travelling and when attending customer, supplier and patrol yard locations;
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Valid AZ licence in good standing;
- Clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR;
- Previous long haul and/or tractor-trailer experience is preferred;
- Working knowledge of Hours of Service, load securement and commercial vehicle inspection requirements;
- Willing and able to work extended hours and overtime, and spend time away from home when assignments require;
- Punctual, reliable and able to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies and the public;
- Committed to working safely and following all company and regulatory safety requirements.
The role is a non-unionized role. Wages and benefits will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.
Pay Range: 34.46 hourly
