Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Welder is responsible for:
- Perform proficiently at welding and cutting fundamentals that include GMAW, MIG, Plasma and Oxygen/Acetylene;
- Demonstrate the capability of welding and cutting metal of various dimensions in all positions;
- Capable of repairing damaged, corroded and/or component defects as necessary to increase level of safety and reliability;
- Demonstrate attention to detail when fabricating and welding on equipment that is operated by Emcon Services Inc, not limited to heavy/light duty trucks, trailers, snow plows/salters/dump body, road cleaning equipment, off-road equipment, mowing equipment and various accessories and attachments;
- Demonstrate proficient capability of using hand tools, air tools and electric power tools consistent with industry standards;
- Perform minor mechanical work to dismantle/reassemble components to complete welding operation;
- Ensure compliance with safe handling, storage and replacement of pressurized gas cylinders as per OHSA;
- Perform maintenance to welding equipment as necessary to maintain optimal efficiency;
- Demonstrate good housekeeping and organization practices while complying with all Health and Safety Policies;
- Participate in safety meetings on a regular basis and collaborate with team members as required
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Preference for licensed Red Seal 456A certificate or will consider welder/fitter experience of 3 or more years;
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Valid Class G Ontario license in good standing and be able to prove a clean Driver’s abstract;
- Must be physically capable of bending, lifting up to 75lbs and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions;
- Must supply tools required for all duties performed;
- Must be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision;
- Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts.
