Did you know… line paint trucks are a rolling operation with a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realize.

Here are a few facts about the line painting crews currently working in the Golden and Revelstoke areas:

• 2000L tank for yellow paint
• 2000L tank for white paint

Yellow paint can cover about 25 km before needing a refill, while white paint can stretch to roughly 30 km.

The driver controls the major movements of the truck and uses a mid-ship camera system to line the unit up accurately on the roadway.

At the rear of the truck, the paint operator works from an enclosed cab controlling the sprayer heads and managing the paint application process.

Once the paint is applied, it is coated with reflective glass beads to improve nighttime visibility for drivers.

Working around changing weather patterns can be challenging, especially with water-based paint systems. Timing and conditions are critical to getting quality lines on the roadway.
