Emcon Services Inc.is a proud Canadian based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial road and bridge maintenance contractor. We currently have an opportunity for enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Mechanical Superintendent (Shop Supervisor) for our Peel/Halton contract stationed out of our Mississauga, Ontario shop.
Reporting to the Division Manager for day-to-day operations and Equipment Manager of their designate for equipment related items, the Mechanical Superintendent (Fleet Maintenance Supervisor) is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the maintenance, service and repair of Emcon’s motorized equipment, and provides supervision and direction to the mechanical team. Essential functions include:
- Schedules and assign shifts, establishes work priorities with clear expectations on performance and quality;
- Monitors and works within equipment budget;
- Follows established programs of preventative maintenance, analyzes operation and maintenance costs;
- Leads a team of mechanical staff while simultaneously developing new talent for the future;
- Communicates mechanical timelines and schedules to relevant team members;
- Coordinates seasonal equipment readiness programs;
- Works within established standards of performance, conducts staff and safety meetings. Instructs and mentors staff in work methods; checks and corrects work in progress;
- Reports and documents problems encountered;
- Observes and enforces safety regulations;
- Prepares reports on equipment and repair status; approves the purchase of supplies and parts;
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have:
- Strong background in Commercial Transportation Industry or possess a 310T Mechanic license;
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract;
- Experience and knowledgeable in technical and mechanical methods and best practices;
- Comprehensive understanding of Provincial Commercial Regulatory rules;
- Clear knowledge of Provincial OH&S and standard safety precautions customary in the workplace;
- Experience with Preventative Maintenance Programs and maintenance record keeping systems;
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills;
- Principles of budget and fiscal policies;
- Principles and practices of supervision and training;
- Maintain electronic records and reports;
- Prior experience working within a union environment is an asset.
This is a non-union, salaried, management position. Salary and benefits will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.
